此幅作品是临摹大千先生敦煌莫高窟二百七十三窟唐人观世音菩萨(张大千编号)。是典型的敦煌风格。

画家早年对敦煌壁画下了很大的功夫，临摹了大量的佛造像，近年来一直在寻求突破并有所成，但是他还是会偶尔回头对传统进行临摹，不同时期的临摹，会有不同的感受，此幅虽为临摹作品，但是从开脸，着色，材料以及技法都和敦煌壁画的原始面貌有着不少区别，是画家根植传统，入古出新的一次积极实践。

画中提拔释文：观音大士，古佛再来。辅助释迦，本迹难思。为化有情，寻声救苦。楞严会中，耳根圆通。法华席上，普门饶益。大悲观世音菩萨，于娑婆国土最为有缘。九月十九，菩萨出家。普天同庆，龙天欢喜。作为佛子，理应感恩。圣诞之日，宜放生布施，念佛诵经。普愿人人皆念观世音名号，行住坐卧，口念心系，回向有情，三障消除，菩提早证。

This work is a reproduction of Mr. Daqian's Dunhuang Mogao Caves, Cave No. 273, Tang Dynasty Bodhisattva Guanyin (cataloged by Zhang Daqian). It embodies the typical Dunhuang art style.

In his early years, the artist devoted a great deal of effort to the Dunhuang murals, copying numerous Buddha statues. In recent years, he has been seeking breakthroughs and has achieved some success. However, he occasionally turns back to emulate tradition. Different periods of emulation evoke different feelings. Although this piece is a reproduction, there are significant differences in facial features, coloring, materials, and techniques compared to the original appearance of Dunhuang murals. It represents the artist's active practice of rooting in tradition while innovating from the ancient.
