This locomotive is on static display at Parque Jipiro in Loja, Ecuador. It is a class 2-8-0 steam locomotive build by the Baldwin Locomotive Works sometime between 1917 and 1952.
Trains like this one were in operation on the Ecuador national railway sometimes between the 192's and the 1990's and there was at least one still operating in 2017 on excursions.
You may also not that the "2" part of the designation 2-8-0 is missing as are a few other parts.
I chose to paint this not only because I like trains, but especially because of the bright colors. It simply cries out "paint me". I found the process very similar to painting portraits.
