Tracing · Shadow embodies a Neo-Orientalist abstract ink style, placing the collision of Eastern and Western cultures at its core to present an artistic dialogue that transcends time and space.

At the center of the composition stand three figures—derived from deconstructed oracle-bone characters yet stylized in the manner of Italian comedic figures. They simultaneously echo the humanist spirit of the Western Renaissance and evoke the enigmatic imagery of China’s ancient script.

Traditional motifs such as fan shapes, fragments of qipao, and shards of blue-and-white porcelain are reassembled in a fractured manner, interwoven with the geometric deconstruction of Western Cubism and the expressive splashes of acrylic paint. This interplay generates a powerful visual tension.

Through the symbiosis of “ancient symbols” and “contemporary brushwork,” the work metaphorically reflects the circulation and rebirth of civilizations across the river of time, inviting viewers to experience both poetic resonance and philosophical reflection within an abstract visual context.
