Bio of the artist:

Huang Yongyu (August 9, 1924 – June 13, 2023) was a highly influential Chinese artist, writer, and cultural figure. Born in Changde County (now Dingcheng District, Changde City), Hunan Province, with ancestral roots in Fenghuang County, Hunan, he was of Tujia ethnicity. His original name was Huang Yongyu, and he also used several pseudonyms, including Huang Xingbin, Huang Niu, and Niu Fuzi.

Huang Yongyu served as a Professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Director of the Printmaking Institute of the China National Academy of Painting, and Academician of the Chinese National Academy of Painting. He previously held key positions such as Head of the Printmaking Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association.

作者简介黄永玉（Huang Yongyu [17]，1924年8月9日—2023年6月13日 [18]），原名“黄永裕” [16]，笔名黄杏槟、黄牛、牛夫子；出生于湖南省常德县（今常德市鼎城区），祖籍为湖南省的凤凰县城，土家族人 [18]；生前为中央美术学院教授、中国国家画院版画院院长、中国画院院士 [19]；曾任中国中央美术学院版画系主任、中国美术家协会副主席 [8] [17]；代表作有木刻《阿诗玛》 [37]，国画《墨荷》 [24]，毛主席纪念堂山水画 [20]，《庚申年》金猴邮票 [48]，酒鬼酒的“麻袋酒瓶”等。
