On Feburary 27, 2026, the event “Art Talk with Master Tien Chang” was successfully held at YM Art Gallery in Richmond Hill. The gathering brought together artists and art enthusiasts to engage in in-depth discussions on artistic perspectives and creative philosophies, fostering a warm and open atmosphere for meaningful exchange.
Renowned for his paintings of horses, Tien Chang has long centered his practice on the spirit of Eastern aesthetics, blending traditional ink techniques with contemporary expression. During the event, several of his representative works were exhibited, offering visitors the opportunity to closely observe the pieces while listening to the artist share the thoughts and experiences behind his creations. From the tension of brushstrokes to the layering of ink, from the rhythm of negative space to the structure of composition, Tien Chang articulated the “energy” and “momentum” within his works, guiding the audience into the spiritual depth of his artistic world.
The event featured lively interaction and thoughtful dialogue. Artists and attendees discussed themes such as the dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, and the transformation of ink art within a modern context. The collision of colors and the interweaving of lines were reinterpreted through conversation. Sources of inspiration, as well as challenges encountered in artistic practice, were openly shared and explored. The exchange extended beyond the artworks themselves, reaching broader reflections on artistic ecology and cultural continuity.
Whether newcomers to the arts or experienced enthusiasts, participants found the session both inspiring and rewarding. Through close engagement and direct dialogue, art became not something distant, but something accessible, experiential, and deeply connected to everyday life.
YM Art Gallery expressed its commitment to continuing to host diverse art-sharing and academic exchange events, building bridges between artists and the public, and inviting more people to experience the warmth of creation and the power of ideas.
